To the Person Who Loved Me While I Was Hurting

emotional resilience expression growth healing reflection Apr 12, 2025

There’s a unique kind of love that enters your life not when you're thriving, but when you're still healing.

This is for that love—for the person who saw me in the midst of my pain and stayed anyway.

I was still carrying the weight of a relationship that broke me, and somehow, in the middle of all that, you showed up. This is my offering of gratitude and forgiveness—for how I showed up during our time together, and for the way we eventually had to let go.

We weren’t the most perfect match. Our time together was short. But it was real. I’m sharing this now as a way to release that energy—with tenderness. A letter made of all the things said and unsaid, now finding their way into the light.

You Helped Me Heal Without Asking Me to Hurry

I don’t think I ever told you how grateful I was to witness your evolution—or how much of my own healing you quietly made possible. You didn’t try to fix me. You simply held space for me while I pieced myself back together. That’s a gift I’ll never forget.

You saw my jagged edges and didn’t flinch. You met my doubts, triggers, and messy emotions with a kind of patience that few people have. Even when I fell apart, you didn’t walk away. You stood by me. And that steadiness helped me remember who I was.

You’ve always had this ability to captivate a room. You make magic happen when you care. You dive headfirst into the things that light you up. And even after all you’ve lost—after heartbreaks and unimaginable pain—you’ve kept moving. You’ve kept seeking. You’ve kept dreaming.

And now, I want to offer you this prayer because though our Faiths are on different ends you — above all you brought faith back into my life.

A Prayer for You, As You Begin Again

I pray you find peace in the places that have felt chaotic and unclear.
I pray you experience deeper joy and steady ground, especially in the moments that feel the most overwhelming.
When the weight of life pulls you in too many directions, may you feel a quiet center inside yourself.

I pray that love surrounds you, even when you forget to love yourself.
That in both what you can control and what you cannot, you trust that something greater is holding you.
May you remember the goodness and grace that are always available to you.

I hope rest finds you. That you recover fully and know that you have the right to pause—without guilt, without needing to prove anything.
I pray strength finds you when you feel weak, and that you never believe you must work harder to be worthy of love or acceptance.
May you be seen and understood, even in your moments of quiet transformation.

When failure comes—and it will—I pray you meet it with grace, forgiveness, and a knowing that better things are ahead.
That you are allowed to grow and rebuild, even in the ashes.
May healing light find you in the dark. May you never feel alone on the journey.

I pray for protection over every area of your life.
That your family is blessed through your leadership and that your heart is honored for the love it continues to give.
May your gifts be recognized, your work appreciated, and your body and hands strengthened for the paths you walk.
Guard your steps, your dreams, and your heart—especially when you're far from home.

And when you feel discouraged, I pray you look back and see just how far you've come.
That you’re reminded of the blessings you’ve earned and the ones still waiting for you.
Amen.

Letting Go, With Love

You’ve had a way of making the world feel alive—of dreaming big, loving hard, and moving forward with fire in your soul.

More than anything, I hope you’ve found freedom inside yourself after giving so much of your love and energy to others—including me.

I’m so proud of the person you are. Be everything I knew you could be.

Thank you for the laughter. For the lessons. And above all, for the love.
